A&M vs. Miami

After David's first A&M game a couple of weeks ago, he sat this one out, staying home with Nanny and Papa, while Will, Mary and I made the trip to the game. The 2:30 kickoff was pretty warm, but not horrible. After a twin F-18E flyover complete with dangling tailhooks and REALLY loud engines, the game was on. 20 seconds and two plays in, A&M was up 7-0. And that's really about all we need to say about the game. Ugh.

Here are some pics.

And, a video of Will's 100 yard touchdown run. The play was reviewed and determined that he did not step out of bounds. This was actually his second big run of the day. He had an 85 yard run to the south endzone that ended at the 15 when he was totally taken out by two kids playing their own football game. They were very polite and concerned about taking out will, probably since they were more than twice his age. Too bad I wasn't filming that one.

Will's first soccer practice

Tonight was the anticipated event. Time to put on the big socks with the built-in shin guards, the Umbros and head over to the YMCA for the first practice. We knew that Will was going to be the gender minority on the team, but tonight, he was the player that made the team co-ed.

Our neighbor is on the same team, so it should be fun. The practice itself was entertaining to watch, although the actual soccer was pretty limited. Interruptions included the coach's daughter needing to go to the potty, various little brothers (including David) making their way onto the field, and multiple water breaks, despite the really nice lower 70s temp. Throughout the practice Will was messing with his shorts. It didn't appear to be an effort to show off his Kung Fu Panda undies (no we haven't seen the movie, but embarasingly we know the characters from Happy Meals), as much as these shorts just allowed -- well, such access.

Enjoy the few pics we took.
(It was getting dark, and we don't have a serious lens. The games are on Saturday mornings, so I'm hoping for some sunny actions shots...)
