Catching up on video

Christmas seems like it was long ago, longer than two months at least. Anyway, I'm catching up on my video work. We had several Christmases, only a few of which are shown here. Pretty much amid the house sales and moving, we celebrated Christmas from Will's school party in early December until mid-January.

Not in the video, we also had a Christmas with Mary's parents at our house and another at the new house with the gifts from the Flinns. Unfortunately they were stuck in Colorado by 23 feet or so of snow the weekend they were planning to come down for Christmas festivities.

Checking out the firetrucks

For a week or so, we've noticed the big CHILI SUPPER, SATURDAY 4:30 - 7:30 sign outside the fire station down the street from us. We figured we had to check it out, because Will is really into fire trucks.

This is the Sam Bass Fire Department, aluding to Round Rock's facination with Sam Bass, the train robber who was gunned down in Round Rock in 1878. Anyway, it was fun to look at the engines up close, ask a few questions, and let Will poke around. Then we went in and had some chili. We ate in the big garage part of the station, and Will just thought that was great: "We're eating in the FIRE STATION!" He kept saying over and over.

St. Valentine's Day Preparations

We're becoming more crafty parents. First it was the bat costume made out of an umbrella. Now it's the Valentine's Day treat that Will made for his classmates. AND it's healthy to boot.
Thanks to Pat's heart-shaped cookie cutters, we didn't have to use the standby plastic heart-shaped candy containers we picked up at HEB late last night. Will cut out heart-shaped watermelon and cantaloupe, then speared them on a stick with some grapes and a heart-shaped strawberry.

It worked great, and Will was really into it. Especially eating all of the spare melon and mis-speared grapes.
